December: Having a Baby
The labor and delivery went really well. I was not going to be induced, but at the last minute decided to because I was having nightmares every night that David would be at work when I went into labor and would not make it to the hospital (he works in Salt Lake and the hospital is in Provo, he takes the bus and during the day it can take him 3 hours to get back to Provo).
I was hooked up to the Pitossin (sp?) for several hours and it wasn't doing much-David and I played speed scrabble and watched a movie. I had been having contractions for 2 months so the increased contractions were not putting me into labor. After I was at my max dosage of Pitossin, the doctor broke my water and that did it. I dilated to a ten fairly quickly, pushed for 10 minutes, and then our little girl was here.

David went home to bring Caleb to the hospital. Caleb was extremely shy and hesitant when he first saw Olivia and I in the hospital-he didn't want to get on the bed with me and kept clinging to David.
Caleb warmed up after a few minutes and thought Olivia's fingers and toes were rather amusing.
I also conned Caleb with that blueberry muffin on the bed-he's a sucker for breads. That was probably the real reason he got on the bed with Olivia and I. After looking at Olivia for a minute, he was ready to play cars again(notice Chick and Lightning McQueen in his hand). So we played cars on the hospital bed and everything was back to normal for Caleb.

This picture was taken right after we got home from the hospital. Caleb wanted to carry Olivia-it only lasted for a minute and then he walked away. Caleb is very sweet with Olivia, but his interest in her is usually short lived. He gives her kisses and puts her binky in when she cries, and then returns to playing cars or trains. He has not gotten jealous or angry about having another baby in the house so I will count my blessings.
