Apparently time has continued to move on fast forward and suddenly we have two kids and have been married for 5 years. David had a long weekend after his summer internship before school started up again, which just happened to be on our anniversary...the stars aligned and we made a quick trip to San Diego...ALONE! We both hesitated about leaving the kids and even considered bringing them with us the morning of our trip, but we decided we needed a quick getaway to charge the batteries for this year.
On our anniversary we visited downtown San Diego and ate a lovely dinner at a quaint Italian restaurant then headed over to Seaport Harbor and walked around (we were out on the town after 9:00pm!).
We spent a day on Coronado Island and life just seemed to move a little slower over there-I was a fan! We went to a concert in the park and hung out with the baby boomers club, notice the older folk in the background. We had fun busting our country dance moves while trying to keep our dignity and not get shown up by anyone over 60. The beach there was beautiful and probably my favorite of the ones that we visited.
We spent a day at La Jolla beach and went kayaking for a couple hours. We should have flexed or something in this picture because I think we dominated those monster mediocre ocean waves and could probably compete at the Olympic level for kayaking. We saw some sharks (the harmless kind), sea lions, and went into some caves. It was something fun that we can't normally do with kids and David even came away with a nice second degree burn to show off to his classmates.
It was the perfect ending for our summer! Thank you Mom and Dad for watching the kids. Thank you for a wonderful anniversary, Love, and I am excited for many more to come. David started his second and final year of graduate school. He is getting his MBA by day and MSIM by night. I started preschool at home with the kids this week and they love it! Here's to another year of school! Woo-woo!
